Getting Started with Exódus® Web3 Wallet — Exódus®

Simple guide to install the Exódus® Web3 Wallet, create or restore a wallet, connect to decentralized apps (dApps), and follow best security practices.

1. Install Exódus® Web3 Wallet

Download the official Exódus® Web3 Wallet extension or mobile app from the Exodus website or your platform store. Always verify you are on the official site before downloading.

Quick install:
  1. Visit the official Exodus website and navigate to the Web3 Wallet or Downloads page.
  2. Choose the browser extension or mobile app (iOS/Android) and install it from the official store or site.
  3. Open the extension/app to begin setup.

2. Create or restore your wallet

When you open Exódus® Web3 Wallet for the first time, you'll be prompted to create a new wallet or restore an existing one using a recovery phrase.

Create wallet:
  1. Select Create new wallet in the app.
  2. Set a strong password and write it down somewhere secure (the password encrypts your local wallet file).
  3. Exodus will show a recovery phrase — write it down exactly and store it offline. This phrase can restore your funds if you lose access.
Restore wallet:
  1. Choose Restore wallet, enter your 12/24-word recovery phrase, and set a new password.
  2. Verify accounts and balances once the wallet syncs.

3. Connect to dApps and Web3

Exódus® Web3 Wallet enables connecting to decentralized apps (dApps) through Web3-compatible browsers. Approve only trusted dApps.

Connecting:
  1. Visit a dApp in your browser.
  2. Click the dApp's connect wallet button and choose Exodus (or the Web3 Wallet extension).
  3. Review the connection permissions and approve on the wallet prompt.

4. Send, receive & swap

Manage tokens directly in the Exódus® Web3 Wallet interface: receive addresses, create transactions, and use swaps where supported.

Basic transactions:
  1. To receive: Choose the asset, click Receive, copy the address and verify it before sharing.
  2. To send: Click Send, paste the destination, set gas/fees if needed, and confirm the transaction.
  3. To swap: Use the built-in swap feature (if available) — check rates and confirm on the wallet.
Security reminder: Never enter your recovery phrase into any website or share it with anyone. Keep recovery phrase and backups offline.

Advanced tips

  • Use a hardware wallet for large balances and connect it where Exodus supports hardware integration.
  • Keep software up to date — updates include security and compatibility fixes.
  • Use different wallets for different purposes (e.g., daily funds vs. long-term storage).
